Arts and Culture

Delaware prides itself on its many cultural opportunities, such as used and new bookstores lining the downtown streets, as well as a historical cinema, coffee shops, organic food stores, and delicious restaurants. Residents can take nearly any sort of arts-based class at The Arts Castle, ranging from ballroom dance to sculpture. During the summer months, a local farmer's market is held, while on Sundays residents can flock to the local flea market. Residents also enjoy access to professional theaters, the Ballet Met, the Central Ohio Symphony Orchestra, Opera Columbus, and the Delaware Community Chorus.

Parks and Recreation

The residents of Delaware stay active thanks to the endless parks and active attractions. The City of Delaware recently partnered with the YMCA to create more recreational opportunities, including sports leagues such as basketball, softball, and flag football.

Delaware is surrounded by natural beauty. Alum Creek State Park is home to 3,387 acres of water, including a 3,000 foot square beach for swimming. It is the ideal location for boating, sailing, kayaking, and fishing. The area is also surrounded by hiking and biking trails. Delaware State Park features another expansive body of water that is also ideal for winter recreation.

Zoos and Amusement Parks

There are endless family-friendly attractions in the Delaware area that are designed to bring smiles to children and adults alike. The Columbus Zoo and Aquarium features acres and acres of fascinating wildlife exhibits from all over the world. The park also includes 14 thrilling rides, including an exciting wooden roller coaster. Lazer Craze is the ultimate destination for laser tag lovers. This wondrous maze features over 19,000 square feet of multi-level laser tag, including an inflatable room. In the warm summer months, residents and visitors alike enjoy visiting Zoombezi Bay, an expansive water park that features state-of-the-art water slides, a wave pool, action river, and a kiddie pool.

Golfing in Delaware, OH

The residents of Delaware love a great game of golf. With over 14 different courses in the area, there is a course that is guaranteed to suit golfers of any level. Each course features rolling hills, bent grass, and mature trees. A few of the most popular courses in the area include Glenross Golf Club, Hidden Valley Golf Club, and Little Bear Golf Club.

Local Schools

The children of Delaware obtain their education through the excellent Delaware City School District. The district consists of Rutherford B. Hayes High School, two middle schools, and five elementary schools. Over the years, the district has become known for its music and gifted and talented programs. Delaware Christian School, Grace Community School, and St. Mary School serve as the community's private schools.

Colleges and Universities

Delaware is home to the excellent Ohio Wesleyan University, a private, independent liberal arts college. This small school specializes in the liberal arts and is currently ranked in the top 80 liberal arts universities by US News and World Report. For those looking to pursue a religious path, the Methodist Theological School in Ohio is a graduate school seminary.
